The process..

The natural dye process is a long one. It takes so many hours just to prepare the fabric before it’s even ready for dyeing!

All in all, each piece goes through three different ‘baths’, the final one being the dye bath itself. Sometimes the fabric stays in there overnight, or even for a couple of days.

This process has taught me patience, and a trust that nature knows what she’s doing. Sometimes, an idea or expectation won’t come to fruition, and that’s usually because no two dye baths are ever the same.

Every pinecone is different, every leaf is different.

This is nature doing her thing, and sometimes we just have to surrender to it.

Below are some photos of the process from designing, sampling, testing to dye-ing.
